Arizona – Monument Valley (Sep 24, 2017)

As we mentioned on our previous post, we took the 6 hour tour. The afternoon tour was for the Mystery Valley area which is not open to the public. On the map below, you can see Mystery Valley on the far left bottom. It is a private road with No Trespassing Signs so you cannot enter this without permission or being on a tour.

 

This tour was done by Jess, another young Navajo Native. She was very thorough about explaining all the areas.

counting lines – no one knows what they were counting
water marks – which that the water was still running down the side of this mesa. How incredible it must of looked. The colors were amazing.
another dwelling (in the middle of the picture). Of course none of these are accessible to the public only special approved archaeologists or rangers. They used a ladder to get to their home in this area.
