We stayed first in Lake Conroe Thousand Trails RV Camp for two weeks. Lake Conroe is outside of Houston and we were in the area to not only visit places but we would also be attending the American Coach Association Rally where we stayed at the Lake Conroe KOA for a week.
We first came across the Texas State Flag Park. The Lone Star Monument and Historical Flag Park is located in Conroe, Texas. The Park “surrounded by 13 flags that flew in Texas as the region fought for independence during the Texas Revolution. At the center of the plaza is The Texian, a 14-foot-tall bronze sculpture by Conroe artist Craig Campobella. The statue depicts an average volunteer soldier of the Texas Revolution. A bust of Dr. Charles B. Stewart, designer of the Lone Star flag, marks the entrance to the park.”
The park is located adjacent to the Montgomery County Library (Central Library) located at 212 I-45 North – Conroe, TX 77301. Park hours are dawn to 11:00 p.m.”
After the visit to the Lone Star Flag park, we also visited the Presidential Library of George H. W. Bush. We enjoyed this library. It was well laid out and you could see/feel the impact he had as a President and as a Vice President. There is a section for Barbara Bush also but we didn’t take any pictures there.
After we left Lake Conroe, we headed to Grapevine, TX and dry camped in the Bass Pro Shop parking lot for two nights. While we were there, we visited the George W Bush Library. This library was interesting in the way it was laid out. You went in circles and moved to another circle. We didn’t feel the impact in this one that we felt at his father’s. Maybe more will be added later.
