Pennsylvania – Erie (Jul 5-7, 2019)

We left Ohio and on the way stopped in Erie, PA. Of course, we stayed in a casino parking lot, specifically Presque Isle Downs & Casino. The parking lot was huge and there was a shuttle to and from our RV to the casino which made it nice. As you have read many times, we like to stay a night or two in a casino parking lot because it allows us to stop on our travels somewhere free.

A pic of our RV with others and semis parked away. RVs usually park in one area and the Semis park in another.
Showing how large this parking lot was.

We traveled into Erie to have lunch at the Federal Hill Smokehouse which looked like a family owned establishment. The BBQ was great plus you knew it was a great place because it was very busy to the point there were not tables left for newcomers.

This was our greeter who mentioned it has been a tough week. We didn’t get a smile from him and pointed to the lady at the register to get a smile.
We tried to get her smile (which she had) but she was busy also.
We had to chuckle about this sign – Open UNTIL WE SELL OUT. haha. Yep that is Lorraine’s reflection in the window and Mike’s back as he tried to rush out of the picture.
Interesting Mural for the Grasshopper Business
The Grasshopper Gift Shop.
Side of a building on 12th Street that promotes Erie’s industrial area.
Side of Restuarant – Good Vibes. Awesome black and white with the colored glasses.
Perry 200 Commemoration. This has been kept top notch.

At first you think this is a face but it is actually a Lady with all of her clothing. Great use of mixed fabrics in this mural.
This was on the side of the Bakery. It sure looks 3D. Great art work.

1st Lt. John R Orlando and his P-47 Thunderbolt. Obviously a service man from Erie.
The flying ladies. Wonder what the artist was thinking about them holding onto upside down chairs.

We are not off to Hersey, PA. Looking forward to a two week visit.
