Nevada – Las Vegas (Oct 31- Nov 20, 2016)

Las Vegas, NV (Oct 31- Nov 20)

Three weeks in Las Vegas. Well besides gambling going out to Red Rock Canyon was very nice. You probably have seen the main pictures of Las Vegas so we wanted to share with you the new things in Las Vegas.

First Popeye the Sailor Man at the Wynn by Jeff Koons. Steve Wynn purchased this for the cheap price of $28 million dollars at an auction at Sothebys. The piece was one of three made by Jeff Koons, a master of oversized, shiny sculptures of balloon dogs, toy trains and tulips. Koons made only three versions of the 6½-foot tall muscle man. Megadealer Larry Gagosian owns one and hedge funder Steve Cohen owns the other. To keep it immaculate, the tycoon flies in two cleaning specialists from Germany twice a year for a daylong detailing, which costs him $15,000 for each man, plus travel and hotel expenses. Seems like he cherishes this. You should see it soon because there are rumors that Steve Wynn will move it to his planned hotel-casino in Everett, MA – outside Boston.

The next place to visit was the Hershey’s Chocolate World. What a great visit and to see all those goodies.

Greeting you is the a sculpture of the Statue of Liberty made out of almost 800 lbs. of HERSHEY’S Milk Chocolate. Mike says this was a waste of Chocolate. img_20161119_154843

Fremont Street. This is considered Downtown Las Vegas. It is not as nice as Las Vegas Strip but does have all the casinos with all the locals in it. Interesting side attractions from the locals earning tips. We didn’t take any pictures because they ask for tips to take a picture. Very busy. We preferred not to walk this area at night because when we did there were many “crazies” walking, talking and screaming. It gets pretty dark at night so there are a lot of dark places that made us very uneasy.20161110_170050

So overall, 3 weeks in Vegas just to hang out. Unfortunately, we didn’t win big as most don’t but it was fun seeing it. We were able to see our friends also Barbara and Tom Bailey who are always the first ones we get to see.

We stayed in a nice park – the Desert RV Camp on Boulder Highway. The park and the rangers here were great. We had a lot of room to spread out so overall the park was perfect. Minutes away from the strip.
