Florida – Orlando (Dec 2020)

Well, we thought that our Kissimmee post would be the last one of the year but we took another trip into Orlando and found some more murals. Check out our two Orlando posts from before: Florida – Tampa/Orlando (Jan 2-Feb 26, 2017) or Florida – Orlando / Life Interruptions (Mar 31- Sep 2018)

So we have found that murals are changed constantly and that sometimes ones you saw before are no longer there. For example, we went to find the below mural which was painted in 2019 but when we drove by the Seacoast Bank Building the wall was painted all white and the mural was gone. Just another example of looking again for new murals.

In 11 cities, local female artists have painted murals of the 23 members of the 2019 World Cup team. Orlando’s mural has been painted on the Seacoast Bank Building, at the intersection of Robinson Street and Orange Avenue. It features forward Alex Morgan and goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris, who both also play for the Orlando Pride.

Here our updates:

Interesting find when we looked up this mural. It is painted by Muralist Victor Ving and photographer Lisa Beggs who have been traveling full time out of their RV since leaving NYC in 2015 and are painting these Greeting signs all over the country.

“Greetings Tour creates landmarks through public art. Using the classic large letter postcard style, they work with communities to create colorful murals featuring local landmarks, history and culture. Muralist Victor Ving and photographer Lisa Beggs have been traveling full time out of their RV since leaving NYC in 2015. The artist duo have completed over 44 murals in 21 states, continuing their mission to paint in all 50 states across America.”

This was an awesome find and will look for more of their Greetings murals going forward. Another full time RVer! yahoo.

Cool Mural – that was blocked by a car. Whiskey Lou’s is one of Orlando’s best-known dive bars in part for their nostalgic murals and decor and also in part for their hazy smoke-filled bar and friendly vibes. It moved from East Orlando to its current home at 121 N. Bumby Avenue

The following are located on the Sam Flax Building, an art supply building located at 668 Altaloma Ave. When we were here in 2017, all of these walls had different murals.

This time this wraps up our posts for 2020. We hope you have enjoyed them. Here is to new adventures in 2021!
