Illinois -Batesville & Decatur (Apr 18-22, 2021)

We left Kentucky and arrived at the Indian Lakes Campground which is a Thousand Trails campsite as a sub to the KOA. When you arrive all you see are the KOA signs so it was confusing about where we needed to go to check in. We finally figured out that we had to stop at the entrance gate and check in there. All the paperwork they gave us had KOA all over it so it appears the owners of the KOA are also subletting with Thousand Trails. For us, of course, this was good since we don’t pay for our stay because we have monthly dues of approximately $70 per month.

The campground is very large and the sites are double the width we are used to. As you can see below there were plenty of sites. We got a site in Phase Four – B. While Mike was walking he said that the sites in Phase Three were triple the size of ours.

So we arrived on Saturday and the weather began to get chilly. Then overnight on Tuesday it snowed! Snowing April? First time our RV was in the snow.

During the snow storm we were hit with an electrical surge which knocked out our electric system. Even after calling support we were not able to get the electric connection to work. We only had diesel or the generator to work with. So we then left Batesville and headed to Decatur, IL where the REV RV Service & Repair site was. It was a three hour drive. REV is the owner of the American Coach RV Manufacturer so we knew the site well. We arrived after 3:30pm which was their closing time so we had to wait until the morning of April 22 to check in.

Since it was dinner time as we were too exhausted to cook, we decided to go out to dinner at Soul Pig BBQ. They are a premium BBQ place and have large servings. So much food that Mike and I took three boxes home with us. After we ate we walked around the downtown area and found some great displays/statues.

Since there are not trees, let’s pretend? Don’t need to be watered.

So the REV group claimed that since we had power issues we would be moved up the list as a priority. Unfortunately, we sat around all day on the 22nd with no contact with them. So we are waiting around. We don’t know how long we will be here so we are are just sending this out for now.
