After we left Toledo, we headed to our next stop. First stop was at St. Clair RV Resort but when we pulled in, we either had one bar or no bars on our phones so we only stayed one night. We then went to Twin Mills and while in the parking lot, we saw we either had one or no Wi-Fi bars. Since Lorraine needs Wi-Fi connectivity to work, we didn’t even check in and cancelled our reservation. We did a Google search from their parking lot to figure out where we could stay. We came across the Elkhart KOA and saw that staying there for two weeks would have cost over $900. We then did a Google Search with FMCA (Family Motor Coach Association) and RV parks which came up with the Elkhart Campground at a cost of $285 per week. We called and they said the Wi-Fi for all carriers was good so we went there. When we arrived, we got three bars of Wi-Fi. Yahoo.
This place is 25 acres and the dog park was outstanding. Dublyn loved this dog park.
Interesting history of Elkhart. “By the late 19th century and early 20th century, musical instrument factories, Miles Medical Company, and numerous mills set up shop and became the base of the economy. In 1934, the first recreational vehicle factory opened in Elkhart. Similar companies followed suit for the remainder of the decade, and the economy continued to grow until the rationing of materials in World War II. After the war, growth picked back up and, by 1949, Elkhart was officially dubbed the “RV Capital of the World.” Of course, they had a RV/MH Hall of Fame Museum which we went to.”
of course while in Eckhart, we had to look for murals. We were impressed with these murals because some of them looked liked a painting.
That wraps up visit to Elkhart. Hope you will enjoy our next post from South Bend.
