Kansas – Wichita Veteran Memorial (Jun 13 2021)

We were on the move again and decided to stay one night in the Kansas Star Casino to break up our trip to Colorado. We were scheduled to stay one night in the Wyldewood Cellars (951 E. 119th Peck, KS 67120) parking lot but knew that the Casino parking lot was large so we stayed there. (With a 45 foot motorhome, space can get tight.) Since we had reserved a parking space with Harvest Hosts at Wyldewood and it was just down the road from the casino, we went for a tasting and told them we were not staying overnight. They mentioned to us that they had four other reservations plus a wedding that night so they were not worried about us not being there. After hearing about the wedding, we were relieved we were not staying there.

Wyldewood Cellars is celebrating 25 years being in business. The staff was really nice. Wyldewood grow the elderberry and use grapes from other vinages in the area. We did buy two wines. Red Dirt Rosé & Rudolph Rosé which A semi-sweet rosé wine made with Chambourcin grapes in a white zinfandel style. It was light and fruity, it pairs well with most meals. Spiced Wine – Elderberry with cinnamon and cloves. This was served to us hot but it can be served cold over ice with fruit as a Sangria. It was actually served at the 2002 Winter Olympic Village! You can order these and any other wines from their website. We also bought a pouch of Berry Slushy. We are learning so much about wines when we stop. Luckily it is not every weekend. lol

Anyhow, while we were parked in the area, we took a 30 minute drive up to Wichita, Kansas to see some sights. This will be the first of three postings from Wichita because we didn’t want to take all of your time reading one big blog.

This was our first stop – the Vietnam Memorial
This is the Flag display – showing all the flags that have flown in the United States

This wraps up the Veteran Memorial. We think this was one of the nicest ones we have seen lately.
