Arches National Park (Jun 27, 2021)

We returned to the Arches National Park because we believe this park is so beautiful. You can see our first visit in 2016. The stones didn’t change much since 2016.

This time we used an app called Explore More Tours which explained all the rocks.

The Three Penguins. The Utes didn’t name them penguins. Instead they saw these spires are guardian spirits that will guarantee food and water.
The Moab Fault. The road travels on the Moab Fault which is 6M years old. The wall was formed actually as the rock slide down it that is why it is smooth in some areas. The different colors of the rock were formed in different geologic era.
Three Gossips. Great example of the erosion that is occurring.
Courthouse Viewpoint, Highest point is 700 ft tall.
On the right, the Sheep Rock. This used to be one edge of an arch which has collapsed.
Close up of the Sheep Rock which shows its eyes, nose and mouth.
A Window arch. Sandstone dissolves when exposed to water and wind and creates the arches/windows.
The Double Arch
The Balanced Rock weighing 7.2M pounds! The pillar and the boulder are part of the same structure. (Awhile ago, someone wanted to prove the whitest band was in cement and climbed up to find out he was false.)
The Delicate Arch. Look closely at the picture and see the people at the bottom. This will put the size of this arch in perspective.
The Pothole Arch
Petrified dunes. Once made of sand and were covered by sediment. The grains fused and became sand.
Broken Arch

Hope you enjoyed our visit. Put this on your bucket list.
